I used to be totally against shopping online, and I never thought I would actually like it. That is until I realized that I can actually save a lot of money by doing so. I’ve started buying clothing online and then even bought food online. Then I realized that I was saving money, but I was also spending at least $10 on shipping. It almost seemed like I was sometimes just saving money on the product but then using that money for shipping. I finally decided that I would only buy online from stores which offer freeshipping. I have always had a dream to open up my own boutique. When I was a little girl, I would take all of my Barbie clothes and set them up in a shop. I then would make my Barbie shop for her clothes. I had more fun setting up the shop than I did playing with the Barbie. It only seemed right that I would open I boutique, when I grew up. However, I never realized how much work it was. For some reason, I thought I would just find a space, arrange the clothes and open the doors. I was wrong. I had to buy the racks, order a sign, find a texas electricity providers, get a permit and even a retail license. It took me over two months to get my store open. By the time I opened the doors, I was exhausted. However, the first day was exhilarating. I had worked so hard to achieve my dream and it was finally reality. I was the owner of a store where any Barbie would be lucky to shop.

For the past couple months,I’ve been working part time at a store at my local mall. Being that I’m a college student, I wasn’t sure how difficult it would be to be a student and employee. I decided to give it a shot, and I’m happy to say that I’m glad I did. My boss is understanding and lets me basically choose the hours and days I work. I honestly don’t know what I did all day before I had a job. Having a few hours of work lets me have a reason to not sleep the day away and get lazy. I feel much more structured, and I have a schedule. I know that I have to come home and do homework at a normal time, or else I won’t get enough sleep. My co workers have become my friends, and I even have fun at times at work. And then of course having my own cash doesn’t exactly upset me. I would strongly suggest getting a part time job to any college student. Trust me, you won’t regret it as long as you have an understanding boss like mine.

Credit in the Job Search

Whether you’re applying for a job at Wal-Mart or elsewhere, it’s important to maintain a good credit rating. I find myself looking up my credit score about once per year. When I was younger, it wasn’t the best. I spent four years in college without a job, and living on credit cards. When I got out, it was hard to find a job and I found it difficult to maintain student loan payments. After enough missed payments, I found myself in a pretty big hole. It wasn’t until I made managing my credit a priority that I was able to improve it to the point where it was within the “normal” range.

You too should watch your credit. Luckily there are websites that allow you to obtain a free credit score. Once you have that value, you can start thinking about getting a job at Wal-Mart or some other location. Assuming your credit is good, you can use it to your advantage during the interview process. An interviewer isn’t just measuring your skill level, they are measuring your character. A good credit score is a sign of responsibility and honesty – qualities that any company values as an asset. So, get yourself a credit report and see where you stand.

Wal-Mart - American Idol - Like Contest

Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer, has launched an “American Idol”-like contest to find the best new products.

The nationwide contest called “Get on the shelf” is the brainchild of Wal-Mart’s social and e-commerce division @WalmartLabs.

For the first time, Wal-Mart is giving any small business, entrepreneur or individual inventor a shot at winning a spot on its store shelves nationwide and virtual shelf space through walmart.com.

Similar to the popular reality show “American Idol,” Wal-Mart said contestants can enter any product category that it already has — ranging from toys, electronics to clothing and household goods. They then can create and submit videos of their latest inventions at www.GetOnTheShelf.com.

Having dabbled in everything from financial services to video streaming, Walmart Stores is now trying its hand at producing a reality show — turning the intense competition to get products on its shelves into an online contest with videos and voting.

Rosalind Brewer has been named as CEO of Sam’s Club. Not only is she the first woman to hold this role, but she is also the first Black person in this position.  She has replaced Brian Cornell, who has been in the position since 2009.

Sam’s Club composes 12% of Wal-Mart’s annual sales and revenue on a per-store basis has outperformed the Wal-Mart branded stores, a sure sign that Sam’s Club is a financially healthy business for the corporate giant.

Trade shows can be a great opportunity for companies to show others what they have to offer. It’s often the place where they can fill others in on their new products and show who they really are. Because trade shows can be so important for companies, it’s essential that they make their area of the show attractive and welcoming. Trade show flooring may seem like a small detail, but it can either make a company look good or bad.In order to attract the most people to a companies area of the trade show, it’s important to chose the right color and shape of the floor. It’s pretty difficult to go anywhere without having a Walmart nearby, because they are so popular. Although this is the case, Walmart still has the ability to become even better and more popular. With social media becoming such a big part of our lives, websites such as Facebook, Twitter,and MySpace can do more than just create a way for you to communicate with friends. These websites actually help companies advertise and market themselves. The more time that goes by, it seems like even more and more people are joining these networks. This only means that companies that have social media pages will be able to get even more customers, which will lead to a profit.

Walmart uses Facebook as one of their major social networks. Using Facebook advertising is so effective for them and pretty much any corporate company, just because of how many Facebook users actually exist. It’s simple: if someone spots a good deal on Walmart.com, they might want to tell others about the great deal they got. Many times, Facebook statuses are often made, which link the product to the companies facbook or website. If I found a great deal on Walmart.com for a computer, I would want my friends to know about the deal too. By linking the page of the actual product on my status, all of my Facebook friends will see that Walmart is the place to go to buy decently priced computers. They might also think about going to Walmart next time they are shopping for anything else. Social media management only seems to be increasing, when it comes to effectively advertising to a large audience. Even a company like Walmart could use a little more help when it comes to advertising.
